How long have you been a member of Functional Fitness?

I started training with Trevor in October 2011.

Why do you continue to train with Functional Fitness?

I had been a member at Anytime Fitness but never got anywhere.  There was not anyone there to motivate me to work harder or encourage my efforts.  With our group, we are always encouraged to do our best at our own level.  With constant monitoring, you know that you are doing the exercises with correct form, which I never had before.  Even after all this time, I still need correcting from time to time.

What have you accomplished since working with Functional Fitness?

When I started, my goal was to lose a pesky 7 pounds which just would not leave my body no matter what I did.  It took about 9 months before I began to lose anything but I felt that if I kept going to training, eventually it would go.  Eating right has also played a big role.  I was a big Diet Coke drinker from the age of 14 when I worked in a restaurant.  I finally can say that I can have one on occasion, but the need to have one is gone.  I think that is my biggest accomplishment even above the weight loss.  To date, I have lost 20 pounds, down more than 3 pant sizes and have gained so much more strength and endurance.  My posture and flexibility is something we continue to work on but it has come along way, as well.

Why have you been successful?

I believe that I have been successful because I didn’t give up when the numbers didn’t change fast enough.  It is hard getting up every morning at 5:00 am and being prepared for the rest of the day, but it is so worth it!  I love the workouts.  It is my time of the day.  I can’t possibly be thinking of anything else when I am moving around from station to station. It starts my day out right and I am able to handle stressful situations even better because I start out in a good mood.

What advice would you give to others looking to lose weight or just live a healthier lifestyle?

It takes time and effort to achieve any goal. You get out what you put into it.  Eating right and exercising are so important to being healthy and being able to enjoy what life has to offer.
